Is Solar Water Heating for everyone? Everyone would like to have a solar water heater. Unfortunately, there are some "requirements" that some locations just can't meet. For example, you must have a "solar window"' that permits the sun's energy to strike your collectors. If you have excessive shading or don't have a suitable place to mount the collectors, you can't use the sun to heat your water. While a south-facing roof works best, we can often mount the collectors in creative ways that work just as well.
